Hey, my name is Katie Pierce
I'm based in Boulder, yet available for work across the beautiful state of Colorado.
Welcome to Katie Pierce Photos, where the love of animals meets the beauty of Colorado’s landscapes. I’m Katie, a lifelong pet parent and natural-light photographer who believes our pets deserve to be celebrated in the most authentic way possible - outside, in nature, where their personalities shine brightest.
My story with animals began long before I ever picked up a camera. I grew up in rural Upstate New York, surrounded by open fields, quiet forests, and the kind of stillness that teaches you how to truly observe the world. I was raised with a deep appreciation for nature and a gentle understanding of what it means to care for animals. From a young age, I learned that every creature - big or small, shy or spirited - has a story worth honoring.
Those early years shaped me. They taught me patience, empathy, and how to earn the trust of animals simply by being present. Today, those same values guide every session I take. When I’m photographing a dog on a Colorado trail or watching the light fall across their face, I’m reminded of the same peaceful connection I felt as a child exploring the woods back home.
That upbringing, paired with the wild beauty of the Colorado landscape, is the heart of Katie Pierce Photos - an invitation to capture your companion’s spirit in a way that feels honest, soulful, and timeless.

Giving Back
Volunteering as a dog walker with the Humane Society of Boulder Valley has become one of the most meaningful parts of my week. Shelter pets have an incredible way of showing gratitude - you can feel the shift in their energy the moment they step outside their kennels, breathing fresh air, stretching their legs, and soaking in a bit of individual attention. Those small breaks bring them joy, confidence, and comfort in an overwhelming environment. This photography journey I'm on started out as me just snapping a photo here and there with my iPhone, because a single good photo can make all the difference in helping a dog get noticed and adopted. Giving back in this way allows me to combine my love for animals, the outdoors, and photography to help each pup find the loving home they deserve.
